ALPEN VIEW ART VILLA:
FROM DRAB TO DELIGHTFUL

Blessed with open space and natural light, our most recent project was ideal in terms of a straightforward renovation, so perhaps the hardest part was refraining from moving in ourselves when this beauty was finished! Working in a limited time with such a large property still presented some challenges, but with so many empty spaces begging to be adorned, this project was a perfect empty vessel to pour our creativity into. If you want to be the one lucky enough to move into this space, Alpen View is now For Sale !

WONDERLAND CHALET:
ADVENTURES IN RENNOVATION

Earning its name in spades, renovation at Wonderland Chalet revealed bewildering structural surprises and restoration challenges around every corner. In the end, the unique floor plan and quirky spaces created ample opportunities to flex our creative muscles and create a one-of-a-kind home. Secret rooms, funky hallways, and even an indoor climbing wall made crawling through this rabbit hole well worth the fall.

RIDER'S RIDGE CHALET: REFURBISHED AND REFINED

What was once a jumble of dark and poky rooms transformed into a spacious beauty when all the refit dust cleared. Everything from shoddy electrics to broken water pipes threatened to challenge our team’s sanity on a daily basis, but we are happy to say we prevailed!
In the end we blended the feel of a traditional Japanese Ryokan with a luxurious modern mountain ski chalet to create Myoko’s premiere ski-in ski-out experience.

Wasabi House
WASABI HOUSE:
A DIAMOND IN THE ROUGH

This once was a busy Minshuku Inn and a Sushi restaurant, but had been left rotting and neglected for over a decade. Although left in a rather miserable state, the bones were still good, and after knocking down some walls and refitting the old building with modern plumbing and electrics, we had quite a gem on our hands. For the interior design, we wanted to preserve the history of this old lodging house, so we embraced the spirit of the Japanese Inn and adorned the house with some of the original objects and artwork we found here.

POWDER PEAKS CHALET: REACHING PEAK POTENTIAL

Located in a residential Myoko neighborhood, this family home had a dated and worn down feel, but with fantastic space and a generous layout, it was easy to see the possibility for positive change. For a fresh look, we knocked down walls, added some modern comforts, and voila! A perfect space to unwind after a day on the slopes.

WASABI CHALET:
REPAIRED WITH FLAIR

Our first foray into the world of old and quirkyJapanese properties, Wasabi Chalet in Hakuba was a perfect place to get started. Once was a summer getaway for an aspiring Osaka artist, this project was a quick introduction on what it takes to get a Japanese “paper house” ready to keep guests warm in the winter. This cozy cabin surrounded by nature inspired natural wood, and bright colors that reflected the original artistic vibes.

WASABI CABIN:
FIXED AND FABULOUS

When space is limited, cozy is the way to go! This gem of a cabin had been left abandoned for too long, and it was such a shame to neglect a place with such unbeatable views! We warmed up the interior with calming colors and fuzzy, fluffy, and furry textiles. Now Wasabi Cabin is now the perfect place to snuggle up with a cup of green tea after a long day of snowboarding or skiing and take in the spectacular mountain views.

TROPICAL RETREATS
A long way from Japan, our first projects took shape in Indonesia where we lived and worked for over a decade. From fun island colors on our beach cottages to displaying our collection of carvings and textiles from our island travels, Indonesia was an inspiring place to get our start.
